The Worst Third Date Ever part 12
Here we will have 2 special guest and I hope you like them. We will read below.
Chapter 12: Surprises part 1
The next day Max was called to go to the Smithsonian for a meeting to talk with her and the candidates about their next programs so she called Spencer to wait for her and later they can go to the cinema.
Her dad told them at the barbecue that the 1954's Godzilla movie, the black and white one, will be at the same theater he and Eloise got kidnapped.
And it was one of Spencer's favorite movies so they decided to go watch it after lunch. Max, Eloise and her boyfriend will join them.
So Spencer will go to the museum and while she is in her meeting he called Derek to go there with Hank. They had not talked in a while and he missed his godson.
Spencer was watching the kids after Max walked into the museum to her meeting. He was thinking about been a dad one day, he was so deeply in that thought that he did not realized Hank was there until he said "uncle Spencer!!" His little hands on his legs.
Spencer looked down and smiled at the little boy "Hank!! How are you?" He picked him up and sat him on his lap.
"Good!!" He hugged his godfather and laid his head on his head.
"Where is your dad?" He looked down and poked his nose.
"He buy me candy" he giggled and pointed at his dad holding a bag with candies.
"Hey pretty boy" said Derek looking at his former coworker "merry Christmas" Spencer stood up and hugged Derek with his free arm.
"I missed you Derek" he said and they broke the embrace "I hope you let me get some candies Hank" he looked at the kid in his arms. Hank nodded and smiled "yay! Uncle Spencer is happy" Hank laughed.
"He wanted to bring his mini Kylo Ren lightsaber and mask to show them to you but I told him you will visit us sooner so he brings a..."
"Ball!!" Hank showed his little ball.
"Wow! That's awesome Hank. Do you wanna play with me?" He nodded and Spencer put him back on the ground and the three-year-old kid threw awkwardly the ball and Spencer dramatically held it making the little kid giggled more.
"Well that's good to see you are getting better with sports" he smirked and Spencer rolled his eyes "Hank do you want to go to play with sand?" The kid nodded and lifted his arms to his dad.
Derek picked him up and the two adults walked there with Hank "so how is Savannah?"
"She is great. She is at work at the hospital. And where is your girl?"
"She has a meeting in the museum. She is trying to get a job creating art programs for children with disabilities"
"Sounds like a fun thing to do" Derek smiled as they reached the sand pit and sat Hank in "so is she a teacher?"
"She has a degree in Art History but she teaches art to kids"
"I see... and is she making you happy?"
Spencer smiled "Yes, she is so sweet, funny and intelligent"
"Aww pretty boy is growing so fast" he laughed and wrapped an arm on his shoulder.
He laughed "and sometimes I think you will never grow up"
Derek laughed "I'm so proud of you, you know that right?" Spencer nodded "I'm glad you found someone to love"
"It wasn't easy. Because I saw how many people suffered in the team when a serial killer tried to hurt their loved one. Gideon, Hotch, Emily, JJ, you. It's hard to have a family and be a FBI agent"
"Yeah, that's why I left the team and Hotch" they looked at Hank playing with the sand "and for me was our best shot to be happy"
"Of course it was. You deserved to be happy with your wife and kid"
"And what's the plan with Max?"
"We are talking our time. Enjoying the relationship and the moments we have together. We start dating officially at the end of November so soon will be our first month"
"Ok and do you have something planned?" He shakes his head "oh come on Reid. I know could do it better than that" the former agent laughed
"You know I'm new with these things" Derek laughed more.
"Ok pretty boy. When is the exact date?"
"We started dating on November twenty-nineth so our first month together will be close to New Year's eve"
"Hmm I see..."
"Oh... wait I got something" Derek encouraged Spencer to continue "as part of my Christmas present for her, I gave her two tickets for the Metropolitan museum in New York. She asked me yesterday to use them soon so she and I can use my free days and be together" the man nodded "the problem is... New York is crowded at this time of the year, you need to make reservations months before New Year's eve"
"True but... I have a friend, he is in LA right now and he has an apartment there for his work in the city. It's close to Central Park and away from Time Square"
"How do we get the key if he is at the other side of the country?"
"He left it with the reception. I can ask him and you can stay for 5 days or so"
"Sounds great" Spencer lifted his fist closed, the last time he did it to him, Derek did not accept because he won against him and Kate when he calculated the number of boats.
This time Derek answered the fist bump and they both laughed. They were having a fun time with Hank when finally Max arrived.
She walked towards him and kissed him gently then she turned to see the man with Spencer and the little boy in his arms.
"Max this is Derek Morgan. He's like my big brother"
"Nice to finally meet you. Spencer talks so much about you" she blushed softly "good things of course"
"Nice to meet you too Derek. Spencer doesn't talk much about his job, but he mentioned you a lot" he smiled "and who is this cute little boy?" She asked looking at Hank.
"Ok no.... how did I forget my little friend right here? Max it's my pleasure to introduce you my godson Hank Spencer Morgan"
"Nice to meet you sweetie" she smiled as the little boy giggled at her "awe he is so adorable"
"Yes he is. And you were approved by him as uncle Spencer girlfriend" Derek laughed kissing his son forehead.
"Good news, I'm now his official girlfriend" she laughed and hugged Spencer.
"Hey I was wondering if you would like to eat pizza with Hank and I?"
"Sounds great" Spencer looked at her.
"I'm totally agree with that"
"Perfect let's go then. We can walk there"
They all walked to the restaurant. Derek told some embracing stories about Spencer and then the boy genius told her some about Derek.
At the restaurant they had a good time talking. Max was having fun with those two because, in fact, they acted like brothers.
She was like that with Michelle and Eloise and so were they both with her. Hank was a mess with his pizza slide, his face covered with tomato sauce and cheese on his shirt.
"Derek, you should clean Hank. He is a little mess" Derek sighed and nodded.
"Ok I will be right back" he stood up holding Hank and the baby bag.
When the couple was alone she turned to him "how was the meeting?" He asked drinking some of his Sprite.
She sighed "well they want me to give my program to someone else so he or she can do it, you know I will create them but I wont teach them all"
"I understand"
"Its my program can work without me teaching it. Then I will get to a shorter list"
"That's amazing"
"Yeah but I'm thrilled but nervous at the same time"
"You will do it great, I know it" she hugged him and he kissed her head "thrust in you Max"
"Thank you Spence" they hugged until Derek returned with his son sleepy in his arms.
"Hey I should leave, Hank is sleepy and I don't have the stroller"
"It's ok, we have to go anyway. My dad invited us to watch a movie" Derek smiled.
"Awesome have fun and don't spoil them the end like you did to me" they both laughed then the former agent added "I will text you when I have an answer about what we talked, ok?" Max looked at them confused.
"Ok, see you Derek" he smiled and looked at Hank "goodbye Hank, love you" he kissed the little boy's head. Then father and son left after they all pay "let's go"
"Should I ask what I missed?"
"It's a favor I asked Morgan, don't worry" she raised an eyebrow but did not ask anything else.
He drove to her dad's house to pick him up. Eloise and her boyfriend will meet them there.
"So Spencer you like the classic movies huh?"
"Yes, I'm fascinated by the practical effects. For example Star Wars old movies has some very good. It was art"
"Finally someone who understands!" Said Don making Max rolled her eyes.
"Dad you know I enjoyed those movies"
"Yeah but because you are an artist. Michelle is an accountant and Eloise is a lawyer" he explains "you are more open to that but I can tell you hit bored sometimes"
"Because they were in black and white and without voices. I was 9 and Michelle was 12"
Spencer laughed softly "my mother read me book in old English. Those were hard to understand if she didn't remember to explain me some words. I was 6"
"You are a genius honey... I'm an average woman" she pouted.
"It still is quite impressive that you watched black-and-white movies at 9 without getting bored"
They arrived to the cinema and got out the car. There were Eloise and her boyfriend with there tickets.
"Hey Jack and Eloise" said Don hugging both.
Jack had dirty blonde hair, green eyes and was wearing a leather jacket with jeans and a shirt "sir we bought the tickets" they both hand then a ticket.
The five walked in. Spencer bought them popcorn and sodas saying it was a gift for invited him there.
They watched the movie, it was in Japanese which put a smile on Spencer's lips.
Sometimes Max could swear, she could see him saying the dialogues in Japanese.
When the movie finished all people walked out talking about the cool practical effects and how the Japanese people made that in 1954.
Then all of them were to eat some thai food and talked a lot. Jack was studying physics and Spencer was having an interesting conversation about it.
Later that night they decided to go back home, and Jack offered to take Don back home with Eloise.
Spencer and Max went to her apartment "do you want to come in?" He nodded. After their first night together they have not share bed again. Either because he was nervous to ask or because she felt she could be pushing him out of his comfort zone.
They went up and he was sitting on the couch as she made some coffee. When Derek called him "hey pretty boy"
"Oh hey Derek, what's up?"
"My friend called me. He said you can have the apartment for at least five or six days so you and Max can use it"
"That's great, thank you" he smiled.
Derek laughed "good, remember to be more romantic kid. She is an amazing woman and deserves to be treated like that so stop being so logical and be more..."
"...like you?"
"Exactly!!" They both laughed "see you later Spencer. Enjoy your night"
"Ok see you" and then they both hung up.
"So are you going to tell me what is going on?" She asked
Spencer held her hand and pulled her closer to him making her sit on his lap "you enjoy investigations right" she placed a hand on his chest.
"Yeah and you love to hide thing from me" she looked into his eyes "what is happening? And don't you dare lie to me"
"Max there's not something wrong" he wrapped his arms around her "in fact it's something amazing" she raised an eyebrow "do you remember that question you made me yesterday?"
"About where we will spend the New Year" it was not a question but an statements, he nodded "do you have an answer?"
"Yes" he looked at her and she bit her lip "we can go to New York"
"Really?"
"Yes. I told Derek today and he said he has a friend who has an apartment free there"
"So we have where to stay" he nodded "we still need tickets"
"Yeah. Tomorrow I will check if the travel agency has tickets"
"You are full of surprises, aren't you?" He laughed "well I will ask too. I wish we decided this sooner"
"Yeah but this was a surprise. Sadly I couldn't tell you with the tickets"
"Yes but it's still a surprise to know you made this decision" she leaned in and kissed him wrapping her arms around him.
OOooOOooOO
After the poll, New York won. So next chapter will be fully in New York. I think I will skip the whole looking for tickets and just drop them in.
As always, thank you for reading and commenting. By the way... I need a quote from Gideon, where he told the team or Spencer to trust their profiles to catch an unsub. I need it for my version of the last 2 episodes of the season 15.

Jen 2 sits on the floor by the couch
[Shawna:] I like how behaved you all are. There's other people who want to just party all the time like there's no other way to live it up.
[Jen:] Thanks..I like being behaved.
[Erin:] I just texted Luke and told him that I want to film some more tonight. He said it was a good idea. Anyone else want to join? We can hang out.
[popstarsteve:] I'll go..it sounds fun.
[Jen:] I'll go.
Everyone starts heading out the door
[Erin's Mom:] Bye! Have a fun time!
The scene changes and now we see a black screen with white letters that say 'Two Months of Filming: Behind The Hollywood Sign'. Then we see a ton of scenes that are short scenes covering the past two months of filming.
One of the scenes shows Jen at a house party. She walks up to a guy and says, "Why would you drink?" And then the guy holding a beer replies, "Because it feels good."
And then Jen says, "Yeah, but it's bad for you. I don't drink alcohol." Then the guy replies, "You know what? That's so true even if you sound like a square on accident for saying that, but yes, it is bad for your liver."
After this scene the screen shows Erin drinking iced coffee with popstarsteve while they sit on the ground. Jen is the one filming. She talks to Erin
[Erin:] There's nowhere to sit, so these two had to sit on the ground.
[popstarsteve:] It's not too bad. I wish it was a couch, but we're not near one.
[Jen:] How do you feel now that the movie is done?
[Erin:] Good! I can't wait to see it at the theater.
[popstarsteve:] I like the theater, but I don't eat popcorn or drink soda. I can't believe I used to eat candy either. I'm, like, all healthy now.
[Jen:] I think I'm a huge star now. I'm going to have to autograph your guitar.
[popstarsteve:] I definitely need your autograph only because you're a cool friend.
[Erin:] That sounds cool, I want an autograph.
The scene changes and then we see popstarsteve standing infront of a microphone and he says, "I'm a rockstar." Then this happens four more times on different stages. Then he goes, "Everywhere I go, I'm just trying to be a rockstar."
And then Jen does the same thing as popstarsteve just did ---- we see her on multiple stages saying she's a rockstar then at the end she goes, "Everywhere I go, I'm just trying to be a rockstar."
Then after she says that the scene changes and we see popstarsteve walking down the street with Erin and Jen and this photog approaches and says "popstarsteve, why would you say everywhere you go you're just trying to be a rockstar?" Then popstarsteve smiles and says, "I was just joking. I was being entertaining; I've always been that way."
Then the photog says, "Nothing is weird humor if everyone sees it as normal and it's definitely Rated G. I like that."
After the photog scene we see Erin at Jen's house picking strawberries.
[Erin:] Strawberries are so cool!
[Jen:] Yeah, I know right?
Jen fills up a bowl and then brings them into the house.
[Jen:] Behind The Hollywood Sign's been in theaters for a couple of weeks now. Are you going to open your own doggie daycare?
[Erin:] It was a cute idea, but I think I might just hang out with Hank. He never gets tired of seeing me. Kitty, too ---- she takes up most of my attention time.
[Jen:] You're being a good parent by not putting too many activities into your day; that's good; I like that.
[Erin:] Did you know that Health specialists online are saying that 4 cups is, like, the max amount of coffee adults should have in one day? That's a ton!
[Jen:] You're starting to sound like me, but yeah that's a ton. You know what my favorite thing about Behind The Hollywood Sign is? We didn't make fun of people.
[Erin:] Yeah, that's such a good thing. There's too much chaos in the world.
[Jen:] You're starting to sound like me!
Jen hits Erin with a pillow and that's the end of the movie.

I'm buying a house! (9/13/2018)
OK, so it’s been awhile since I’ve put myself on a budget, and my credit card is paying the price.
I’ve been living in Marin County (San Francisco Bay Area) for a little over two years. I don’t pay rent, and it’s been fun exploring the city and the surrounding area, making friends through work and going to concerts and book signings, but eventually we all gotta grow up, right?
I just turned 24. 24! I wish I could put numbers in all caps, because that is an all caps moment for me. I could bold it, but I think the repetition with the exclamation point gets my point across. I know in hindsight 24 will seem young and stupid, but right now I feel old. Not old in the sense of my back hurting and my knees and hips going out, but too old to still be pretty much completely dependent on my parents. I think everyone in the Bay Area feels this to some extent. Everyone I meet either lives with several more people than is reasonable to be in a house or apartment, or still living with their parents. I can’t say I blame them. Rent is too damn high around here, unreasonably, raise-your-eyebrows-and-guffaw high, and there’s really no other way to do it. Some of those nice Silicon Valley jobs pay handsomely, but a lot of those tech people are still considered “low-income” and eligible for government assistance, even if they are pulling in $100K a year.
Long story short, I’m pulling from both the “still living with my parents” and the “too many roommates” crowd. I don’t technically live with my parents, which makes sound cool when I talk to people, but I do live with my brothers. Three brothers and me, in a two bedroom, 1 ½ bath townhouse. It’s crowded. Not only that, but we don’t pay rent because it’s not ours, it’s our grandfather’s. He’s currently shacked up with my parents at their place in Idaho, because he’s blind and can no longer speak, and his throat cancer just relapsed. We’re basically holding the fort down since he can’t live on his own anymore, but doesn’t want to give up his place. I think he plans to leave it to my parents in his will.
Basically, our situation is temporary. It’s great, because real estate in this area is, if possible, even worse than in the city, and we have a real opportunity here to get a unique experience we wouldn’t get otherwise. But it doesn’t feel like home.
Living with the boys is hard. Nobody likes to clean up after others or themselves, the chores get done at varying degrees depending on who got fed up with the filth and decided to pick up, or if our parents are visiting or we have guests over. It’s too much for me to keep up with, and on top of that somebody keeps eating all my Captain Crunch and peanut butter.
Basically I’ve had enough. I miss my mom and dad and my three grandparents living in Idaho currently, and even without rent everything here is too expensive. I work best if I’m living on my own, and that’s what I want to do, so that’s what I’m working towards.
Back to going on a budget; while living here I have been living high on the hog. Concerts, baseball games, book events, dinners and lunches with friends, dating, exploring styles in fashion and make up, FOOD. It all adds up. I’ve also taken a couple of vacations, bought some furniture and new appliances, and that’s all hurt my wallet too. I’ve still got student loans I’m paying off, and now this great big credit card bill on top of all the regular monthly bills for things like my phone and PG&E. I’m…somewhat responsible. I pay my bills each month and put the rest of my balance towards paying off my card. I’ve been doing this for about a year now, and I’m kind of in the same place as I was because I keep paying down the amount I’m spending each month. This has to end.
After having a long conversation with my mom, we decided I should move back home if it’s what I really want, but I should do it the right way. I could pay everything off and save a couple thousand to put a deposit on an apartment if I wanted to in less than a year, but then I would be paying rent every month and living on my own, but not able to save too much to put towards getting a house someday, which is the ultimate goal.
Instead, I’m going on a two year plan to pay off ALL my debt as soon as possible, and spend the rest of the time saving as much as I can to go towards a down payment for a house.
I’m not a very patient person, but the idea of having a whole fucking house to myself is so sweet I can taste it. Once the idea passed its way into my brain from my mother’s fingertips I was hooked. Sure, it’s going to take a while, but the payoff is going to be so great.
I’m starting with my budget, since I need to cut back my spending in order to pay more towards my bills each month. A balance transfer and a new line of credit is in order to cut back on the interest now gaining on my credit card. I anticipate this will be the last line of credit I open in the next couple of years. Next, I need to stop driving in or ubering to work. Miracle of all miracles, our late days at work we have to do once a week are changing, so we are starting an hour earlier and getting off an hour earlier, which means I can take the bus instead of waiting an hour and a half after work to take the ferry, or ubering or driving in. Hallelujah! Once I get back on the train of taking the bus every morning again, that should cut a significant part of spending out of my life.
Here’s how bad it is. I actually have about three months’ worth of credit on my Clipper Card right now because I’ve been skipping the bus so much on the way to work. So the first step there is to cut off the auto renewal of my commuter benefits that keeps piling on my Clipper Card instead of going in my pocket. That will be an additional $250 a month that will come on my paycheck. It will be taxed now, but at least I’ll be able to put it towards some bills.
Next is my food budget. Since I’ve been ubering in, I eat out during lunch way less since I feel so guilty about spending $20 on getting to work. It doesn’t sound like it evens out, but eating out in this neighborhood can be really expensive. Now that I’m cutting both out, we’ll see how much I save. I also eat out a lot for dinner, especially on the weekends, or if the pile of dishes is just too damn high. Pretty simple solution that will actually kill two birds with one stone: no more eating out. I’ll make a menu of what I’m going to eat every day and stick to it. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’ll start packing my lunches more proactively, doing food prep and making sure when I make a big batch of food I’m not eating two dinners because I need to save at least half for lunch the next day. This will also force me to be more proactive about keeping the kitchen clean and the dishes to a minimum.
Right now my monthly budget for food is $200, but ideally I’d like to get it down to $100. I think once I get the saving momentum going, I’ll minimize my choices to the cheapest meals possible. We also have a lot of built up food in our pantry that is literally just sitting there. Cans of tuna, a couple boxes of tuna helper, popcorn, oatmeal, chili, beans, corn, pancake mix, canned soup, etc. It’s all perfectly good food, it just seems like nobody is ever in the mood for it. It’s all free game, and about to become part of my regular diet.
I just went shopping last night and spend about $165, which was pretty good for everything I got. The hardest part is going to be making sure the boys don’t steal any of it. They always say they will replace it, but I’ve lost quite a few gallons of milk in the last two years. I steal back whenever I can, but for some reason I’m the only one who can ever purchase things like flour, butter, sugar, oil, vinegar, baking soda or powder, essential kitchen items. Things everybody uses but doesn’t help replace. I have a plan though. My fridge in the garage is from college, and just a mini, but one people often forget about. I think I’ll start storing items in there, and bringing high profile dry food, like cereal and peanut butter, up to my room. It will require a little bit of extra work, but worth it if it gets me closer to my goal.
Next step, limit my spending on fun activities. Now, I already have tickets to see Craig Ferguson on Sunday in Napa, and Panic! At the Disco in February. I’m also flying home for Christmas and my mom’s birthday, so that ticket will be purchased very soon. Fortunately, my friend and I were talking about saving, and she has a travel credit card. If she gives me a referral, I can get approved too, and immediately start out with some points. Hopefully that will take care of some of my miles for my trip home. If not, we’re back to square one. But as far as ball games and other concert events and even weekend drinks with coworkers go, that will have to cut back to almost nonexistent. The problem with taking the bus is if I decide to go out after work I almost always have to get an uber home. I’m very tempted at this point to just delete my uber account. I also spend too much on drinks and food when I go out, when I could just as easily do something at home with a bottle of $5 Moscato. I’ll have to limit my excursions to special occasions, and even then maybe not partake, and plan ahead for transportation.
As for events, seeing if I really need to go, and then getting the cheapest tickets available. Fall Out Boy in October? No go. I saw them last year around the same time, and it was a part of the same tour. Hank Green in Santa Cruz? The tickets are already sold out, and I doubt I would get there in time for the event, since I’m working that day. I also saw him just in October of last year for John Green’s book tour. Maybe I’ll just spend that money buying the book. I would just check it out at the library, but it’s his first book and I want to be supportive.
I’m pretty good about my alcohol consumption. I’m not too big of a drinker, though I have been spending too much on wine lately. One of the perks and drawbacks of living so close to Napa is I now have a favorite winery, and I’m a member, which means I get free tastings, but it also means I paid for a full case of wine…a couple of times. I still have five or six bottles left from the last time I went back in May or June, and I don’t intend to buy anymore when I go to Napa this Sunday for Craig Ferguson. I do intend on going to get a free buzz though. I think I’ll spend the money for a bottle of wine on a T shirt at the show instead. That seems reasonable to me. Either way, I will eventually have to give up my membership status by not buying another case of wine, and switch back to Sutter Homes Moscato. I don’t think there’s any love lost there, just another average of $300 a year I’ll be saving.
This is my starting plan. I’m sure I’ll find more ways to save money as the months go on, but for now I’m excited to start this project and see it to completion. I think keeping this blog type will help me stay on track, and keep me motivated and excited for this long haul. I can’t wait to celebrate the day I’m debt free, and then the day I can start actually shopping for houses.
Let’s do it!
